About
“I AM” started as a psychology lesson. Originally "Thoughts are Things,” it began as a visual instruction of how to frame thought, both positive and negative. I started the painting creating a basin bowl structure imitating the cradle of the brain. A stencil of balloons was then developed to lay across what would potentially be a forehead to become embedded within. Cloud forms, chords of grey matter, pineal glands, the amygdala, the Eye of Horus were visual dalliances into the Neuroscience I was enthralled with at the time. Once I let go of the story about what the painting was supposed to be about, I finally saw it for what it is. With distance (time) the work matured and became a vision from the womb, an ultra sound.
